Ottawa, Ontario – The first weekend of the EOJHL season saw Arnprior hosting Valley, Brockville on the road against Whitewater, Athens vs Carleton Place and then Alexandria taking on Embrun on Saturday night. During Sunday afternoon, the Golden Knights played Richmond, Perth vs Athens and then the Smiths Falls Jr. Bears playing their first ever EOJHL game on home ice against the Kings.
Saturday:
Arnprior 7, Valley 1
Cuglietta, Bertrand and Mcgregor led the way with two goals each in a blowout win. Jett Miller made 31 saves while McMillan, Klawitter and Verch tallied two assists. The Packers outshot Valley 60-32.
Kaleb Either made 53 saves for Valley in the loss. Ryan Ladouceur had Valley’s only goal. They went 1-for-5 on the power play.
Brockville 5, Whitewater 1
The Tikis continue their offense against Whitewater by scoring five times in a huge win. Spencer Stanutz led the way with 1G / 2A while Juchau and Jakielaszek each collect 1G 1A. The other goal scorers were Stringer and Grajnar Ptok. They went 1-for-7 on the man advantage and Dustin Riff made 38 saves in the win.
William Herrick had the Kings lone goal in the loss. Shots were 40-39 for Brockville.
Carleton Place 5, Athens 3
After a goal scoring fest in the first, the Canadians scored twice in the third to get the win. Mateo Mongeon scores twice while McGlade, Schoenborn and Kingsbury had goals for Carleton Place. Ty Ferguson made 28 saves in the win.
Andrew Sprague, Alex Seed and Blake Demerah had goals for Athens in the first period in the loss. The Aeros outshot Carleton Place 31-28.
Embrun 11, Alexandria 0
It was a dominate performances by Embrun in a blowout win. Charlie Belanger scores four goals to end the week with seven goals and nine points. Noah McDonell had his first career EOJHL hat trick while Riley Findlater, Connor MacDonald and Juno gregoire all collect three points. Blanchard and Perry also had two points. Cooper Lennon made 24 saves for his first career EOJHL shutout.
The Panthers outshot Alexandria 60-24 and went 2-for-3 in the power play. Jordan Stairs made 24 saves and Jason Van Wieren had 25 saves.
Sunday:
Richmond 4, Ottawa West 2
Richmond was able to pick up their first win of the season by defeating the Golden Knights in an outstanding performance. Dylan Rorwick leads the way with two goals and three assists while Jason Genereux and Reid Johnston each collect one goal. Diego Hennessey made 29 saves for his first win in the EOJHL.
Anthony Tardioli and Ryanlee Wadden were the only goal scorers in the Golden Knights loss. Shots were 44-31 for Richmond and both teams went 1-for-3 on the power play.
Smiths Falls 10, Whitewater 4
The Jr. bears collect their first ever win in the EOJHL in dominate fashion. Smiths Falls outshot Whitewater 52-36. Tyson Parker and Denver Craig each collect hat tricks and Sam Beau champ had three assists. Other goal scorers were James Neumann, Carter Williamson, Jack Chiarello and Cody Sinclair for Smiths Falls. Matthew Saari made 32 saves in the win. They went 1-for-1 on the power play.
Shelden Lyon had two goals while Kosta Kastanias and Brendan Lynch each had three points in the loss. The Kings went 2-for-6 on the power play.
Perth 4, Athens 3
Despite the Perth Blue Wings being outshot 49-28 during the game against Athens, they were able to hang on for a huge win. Travis Ouellette collect two goals for three points while Tood Northgrave and Justin Salter each collect their first goals of the season. Brady McEwan made 46 saves in the win.
Athens had goals from Leaver, Langille and Hudson in the loss. Rylan Donovan made 24 saves.
