Weekend Recap | Six games

Ottawa, Ontario – It was a busy weekend in CCHL Tier 2. On Saturday, there were four games and two more games on Sunday night.

F/OT | Whitewater 2, Embrun 1 (Saturday)

The Whitewater Kings were finally able to break a 14 game losing streak with Josh Reid scoring the OT winner just 15 seconds into extra time. The Kings were trailing 1-0 late in the third and John Enright was able to break the tie with 8:17 left in regulation. They also dominated Embrun by outshooting them 42-27.

Eric Skyba got the only goal back in the first period for Embrun. William Nguyen was tremendous in the net by making 40 saves on the night.

Renfrew 4, Perth 2 (Saturday)

Before the game, the Perth Blue Wings made a huge trade by dealing F Miles Chaput, F Cameron Duhn and G Justin Lafrance to Athens in exchange for G Matthew Maas. Cameron Dutkiewicz was able to pick up the game winner early in the third and Noah Maika had the insurance goal for Renfrew.

Artyom Shiman also got the game tying goal to complete a multi-point night. Nathan MacKechnie and Brendan Lynch got the only goals in the loss. Perth has now loss two consecutive games.

Westport 7, Char-Lan 5 (Saturday)

It was a high scoring affair in this game. Anthony Ieradi leads the way with his second hat trick of the season while Zack Pilon (1 G / 2 A) and Boisclair (3 A) each had three points. Westport went 1-for-3 on the power play while Char-Lan’s man advantage was 2-for-4.

Joseph Samson also stepped up and added two goals and one assists in the Rebels loss. Owen Carter and Rylan Iwachniuk also tallied two points. Shots were 27-26 for Westport.

Winchester 7, Carleton Place 2 (Saturday)

Nobody expect this game to be a blow out. The Hawks were able to score five answered goals in the third to pick up their ninth win of the season and keep pace with Ottawa, Ottawa West, Casselman and Embrun in the Martin Division standings.

Connor harty collected his first two-goal game of the season while Fleming, Haw and and Vitales each netted one goal in a multi-point night. Carleton Place had goals from Mozer and Nicoll. Winchester’s power play was 1-for-4 and outshot Carleton Place 37-34. Lucas Devries got his 4th win this season after stopping 32 shots.

Casselman 5, Arnprior 4 (Sunday)

The Vikings were up 3-0 but Arnprior were able to find a way to make it close from the second period until the end of the game. Adam Paquette’s second goal of the game coming on the empty net prove to be the game winner. Fournier, Houle and Gagnier each added two points on the night. Casselman extends their winning streak to three games.

Jared Campitelli added three assists and Danny Carroll also collected two assists in a tough loss for Arnprior. Church, Caparelli, Duncan and Driscoll all had goals for the Packers. Casselman outshot Arnprior 42-23. Zachari Racine picks up his 8th win this season by making 19 saves.

Whitewater 6, Athens 4 (Sunday)

The Kings were able to extend their winning streak to two games and were coming off a OT win over Embrun on Saturday. Payton Jardine collected a three point night with 1 G / 2 A and Dan Duggan scores twice to give Whitewater their third win this season.

Both teams were 2-for-3 on the man advantage in a high scoring affair. New acquisition Miles Chaput got a goal in his debut after being dealt from Perth to Athens on Saturday. Connor Bell also collected 1 G / 1 A in the Athens loss. Whitewater outshot Athens 40-29.
