Weekend Recap | Six Games

Ottawa, Ontario – There were three games happening on Saturday night and three more games on Sunday afternoon.

Whitewater 3, Alexandria 2 (Saturday)

The Kings were able to get their fifth win of the season. They scored three unanswered goals from Jacob Montgomery, Noah Bradburn and Josh Reid. Alexandria would made a big push in the third by scoring twice but it wasn’t enough for the Glens to try and comeback.

Nico Pozzebon had an even strength goal and Zachary Bigras got a goal on the penalty shot early in the third period. Henri Creighton got his second career CCHL2 start and made 32 saves in the losing effort. The shots were 35-31 for Whitewater.

F/SO | Char-Lan Rebels 4, Athens 3 (Saturday)

The Char-Lan Rebels out-shot them in this game but survived in the shootout. Athens had a 2-0 lead until thr Rebels bounce back with two goals of their own to tie the game. Kale MacCormick had the shootout winner and collected one goal in the second period.

On the positive side, Athens gets their first point of the season after going on a tough losing streak to start the season. McCoy, Gionet and Gray all had goals for Athens. Kohle McCulloch had a terrific night by tally three assists.

Westport 4, Carleton Place 1 (Saturday)

It was a battle for first place in the Richardson Division and Westport was able to tie the season series with a big win. Last time these teams met was on October 25th when Carleton Place won 5-3. Owen Watson scores twice including the game winner. Sean James also contribute offensively by tallying two assists.

Boisclair and Patterson had the big insurance goals for Westport in the third period. Carleton Place had Jacob Bertrand getting the only goal in the loss. Shots were 30-23 for Westport and jump into first place in the league and division standings.

Richmond 5, Whitewater 2 (Sunday)

The Royals were able to score four unanswered goals in the second period and never looked back. Ryan Mann, Dawson Evans and Owen Nevins contributed for Richmond by collecting 1G / 1A. Diozeghy and Grundy also tallied two assist. Josh Lacelle was terrific in net by making 31 saves.

Sean Tallon and Noah Bradburn had the only goals for Whitewater in the loss. Richmond’s power play went 3-for-9 and have won three of their last four games.

F/SO | Arnprior 6, Carleton Place 5

It was a high scoring game between these two teams as Arnprior was able to complete the comeback and break their seven game losing streak. The Packers were down by three goals at one point during the game and kept tying the game to force extra time.

Neil Duncan was able to get the shootout winner in the 7th round. Campitelli, Rampton, Rivard and former Perth Blue Wing Seth Gillingham would all get on the score sheet by collecting 1 G / 1 A. Cameron Scott was also excellent in between the pipes by making 45 saves for his 7th win this season. Carleton Place outshot Arnprior 50-28. Connor Nicoll had two goals as the Canadians pick up a point.

Winchester 4, Embrun 3 (Sunday)

The Hawks were down 3-1 and score three unanswered goals to complete the comeback. Kyle Fleming would score the game winner with 24 seconds left in regulation. Eric Vitale was able to extend his point streak to seven games by collecting 2 G / 1 A. During Vitale’s seven game point streak, he has 13 goals and three assists.

Colby Byrnes-Shaw would also get his first goal of the season on the back end. Taillefer, Cyr and Skyba each had goals in a tough loss for Embrun. The Panthers go to 1-2 on the week by only defeating Richmond. Winchester dominated the third period by outshooting Embrun 18-5 and during the game it was 44-31 for the Hawks.
