WEEKEND RECAP | Six games

Ottawa, Ontario – There were a total of four games on Saturday and two games on Sunday as the second last week of the regular season came to an end.

Westport 9, Winchester 1

It was dominating performance for the Westport Rideaus. Leading the way offensively was Ty Nicholson who scores twice to go along with four assists in a six-point afternoon. He ends the week with five goals and five assists.

Liam Graham and Anthony Ieradi each collect two goals. Connor Manderson and Sean James added 1G / 2A. Patrick Leaver makes 27 saves for his 15th win this season. Nathan Lassemba had Winchester’s only goal in the loss. Shots were 47-28 for Westport and went 1-for-3 on the power play on Saturday afternoon.

Renfrew 6, Whitewater 1

The Renfrew Timberwolves end the season on a seven game winning streak ahead of their wild card series against Arnprior. Renfrew was 9-1-2 in February. Cameron Dutkiewicz tallied 1G / 2A while Hadjian and McGregor each had 1G / 1A. Hartwig, Kuehl and Martin were the other goal scorers for Renfrew.

Ethan Lapenskie made 32 saves in his final regular season of his CCHL2 career. Liam Doyle scores once in the whitewater loss. Renfrew stayed out of the box by taking no penalties and were 0-for-2 on the power play. Renfrew out-shot Whitewater 38-33.

Char-Lan 4, Alexandria 3

It was the Battle of Glengarry for the final time this season and this time it was a very close contest. Liam MacDonald scores his first career CCHL2 hat trick for a four-point game and Parker Tallman returns to the lineup for the first time since October 20th and tallied three assists.

Char-Lan has now won three consecutive games. Corry, Robertson and Pozzebon tallied one goal in the Alexandria loss. The Glens out-shot Char-Lan 24-22. Char-Lan will end the season this upcoming week with back-to-back games against WInchester and Alexandria takes on Athens in their final regular season game tomorrow night.

F/SO | Carleton Place 3, Arnprior 2

It was a must win game for Carleton Place and were able to get the job done. Ben Charbonneau (1A) scores the shootout winner in the first round. Larkin and Nicoll each scored for Carleton Place. The power play went 0-for-3 for the Canadians.

Jared Campitelli scores twice for Arnprior and Cameron Scott was excellent in net by making 35 saves. Shots were 38-22 in favour of Carleton Place. The Canadians will play Westport on February 29th to determined the first seed in the Richardson Division.

Ottawa West 6, Richmond 2

The Ottawa West Golden Knights end the season with a seven game winning streak and also went on a 11 game road winning streak. Despite being down 2-0 early to Richmond, Ottawa West was able to score five unanswered goals.

Noah Haymes (1G / 1A) ends the season with a fifteen game point streak. During that time, he had 14 goals and 15 assists. Jack Haymes also got his point streak to fourteen games (12G / 19A). Sean Kearns tallied his fifth game winning goal of the season and had two points.

Stef Mellios had a great afternoon with 1G / 2A and collects his third three-point game of the season. Troccoli-Roik, Whiteduck and Byers were the other goal scorers for Ottawa West. William McEvoy makes 26 saves for his 19th win this season and won 15 consecutive games as a starter.

Adam Goodfellow scores twice in the first 2:08 of the game for Richmond. They will play their last game this upcoming Wednesday night against Embrun.

F/OT | Whitewater 3, Athens 2

The Athens Aeros had a great game against Whitewater on Sunday night by having a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. AP Tyler Cutts continues to stay hot by scoring his fourth goal since being called up and Dan Duggan would score the tying goal to force OT.

Liam Doyle would end the Kings season by scoring his 11th goal of the year. He extends his goal streak to five games and his point streak to six games. Liam Silva scores twice for 11 goals on the season. Athens will look to try and get their first win against Alexandria on Tuesday night.
