Ottawa, Ontario – During Feb 14th to 17th, there were a total of six games with three games of Brockville’s games being postponed against Carleton Place and Whitewater. Other than that, it was an entertaining week as teams are trying to get in position for a playoff spot.
Monday: Ottawa West 12, Casselman 2
The Golden Knights lead the season series 3-1 with another blowout win over Casselman. Keon Troccoli-Roik set his new career high by scoring four goals while Ponomarev and Haw each had three points. Graham, Haymes and McFarlane also got on the scoresheet with four points. Ottawa West went 3-for-9 on the power play.
Brendon Watson and Xavier Borgia were the goal scorers for Casselman. They were 1-for-6 on the power play. The Golden Knights outshot Casselman 49-23.
Tuesday:
Ottawa 3, Casselman 1
Ottawa was able to score twice in the second to take the lead and would never looked back. Carr scores his 5th goal this season to tie it up in the first. Cote got his 7th and Hunter had the insurance marker by scoring his first of the season. Ian Lee made 34 saves in the win.
Jacob Dyer would score the lone Casselman goal. Casselman outshot Ottawa 35-26. Will Vaillancourt made 23 saves in the loss.
Athens 7, Westport 1
The Aeros played a full 60 minute throughout the night and outshot Westport 51-18 in a blowout victory. Leading the was Ty Nicholson (1G/3A) and Rhett Palmer (2G/1A) offensively. AP Aidan Bailey collected 1G/1A. Cyr, Carswell and Manderson were the goal scorers for Athens. Kaleb Griffin made 17 saves.
William Burns had Westport’s only goal in the loss. Evan Malloy made 44 saves. Both team had one goal on the power play.
Alexandria 7, Char-Lan 2
The Glens were able to snap their two game losing streak. Tyler Goyer collects two goals while Nicolas Ouellette tallied 1G/2A for three points. Pinkterton scores his first goal of the season with 29 seconds left in the game. Vincent Boyle collected the game winner by scoring his fourth of the season. Alexandria went 3-for-3 on the power play.
Chenier and Branchaud were the goal scorers for Char-Lan. Jason Van Wieren made 28 saves for his fourth win this season. Shots were 32-20 for Alexandria.
Wednesday: Richmond 7, Ottawa 3
Richmond collects their 8th win this season and their first win during the second half. Tyler Cutts collects two goals including the game winner early in the third. Richardson and Nevins also tallied 1G/1A. Barbeau, Greene and Kahriman had goals for Richmond. Ethan Dinsdale made 34 saves for his 7th win of the sesason. The Royals went 1-for-6 on the power play.
Liam Hunter and Andrew Carr each scored for the second consecutive game while Papineau scores his 9th this year in the loss. Shots were 50-37 for Richmond.
Thursday: Casselman 3, Char-Lan 2
Casselman snaps their losing streak by winning a close game over Char-Lan. Frederick Gagnier scores twice including the game winner with under 7 minutes left in regulation. Stewart also added his sixth goal of the season.
Justice Brownlee scores his first goal with Char-Lan this year and Devon St-Jean had his 8th of the season. U18 Rockland Nationals goaltender Mael Gendron made 22 saves in his EOJHL debut with Casselman. Shots were 24-23 for Char-Lan.
