Recap | Embrun, Perth and Ottawa West with key wins on Sunday

Ottawa, Ontario – There were three games happening on Sunday afternoon/night as the push for the playoffs continues. Embrun defeated Arnprior 3-1 to go back to second place in the Martin Division, Perth won 2-1 in a shootout over Renfrew to extend winning streak and Ottawa West wins 6-1 against Athens to have 62 points on the season.

Embrun 3, Arnprior 1

The Panthers collect their 26th win this season, to go along with a three game winning streak and have won four of their last five games. Juno Gregoire scored in the first period while Eric Skybas extends his point streak to four games by scoring his 15th goal this season.

Marshall Drevniok would cap off a multi-point game by scoring his 12th goal this year. William Nguyen was fantastic in between the pipes by making 31 saves. Danny Carroll extends his point streak to two games by scoring the Packers only goal. Pat Bones had a really good game on the back end by collecting one assist and had to block a lot of shots.

F/SO | Perth 2, Renfrew 1

It was very tight game with less penalties throughout this game. Zach Martin had Renfrew’s only goal while Trent Harris would tie the game at one right after the TImberwolves took the lead for only five seconds. Alex Caparelli would score the shootout winner in the first round.

Mack Miller scored the other goal in the shootout to give Perth their sixth win in a row and are 7-2 in the second half of the season. Alex Zoutis makes 19 saves for his 19th win this season while Ethan Lapenskie makes 28 saves for his second consecutive shootout loss. Renfrew is 2-0-2 in their last four games.

Ottawa West 6, Athens 1

The Golden Knights dominated the Athens Aeros for 60 minutes throughout the hockey game. Sean Kearns (2G / 2A), J. Haymes (1G / 2A) and N. Haymes (1G / 1A) combined for 9 points on a line together. Sam Edwards scores his third of the season and Golden Knights defenseman Adam Watson scores his first CCHL2 goal.

William McEvoy only made 11 saves on 12 shots. Eric Mitchell had Athens only goal in the third period. The Golden Knights power play went 4-for-11 and are 9-2 in the second half of the season. Shots were 42-12 in favour of the Golden Knights.
