Recap | Winchester clinches playoff spot while OJC and Ottawa West collect blowout wins

Ottawa, Ontario – There were three games including some playoff implications happening on Tuesday night with Ottawa West taking on Carleton Place, Ottawa Jr. Canadians faced off against a shorthanded Char-Lan Rebels and the Winchester Hawks were on the road taking on the Renfrew Timberwolves.

Ottawa West 6, Carleton Place 0

The Golden Knights has scored six goals in back-to-back games. Jack Haymes scores his first career CCHL2 hat trick while Noah Haymes and Sean Kearns continue to stay hot by adding three assists. Sam Edwards, Jared Brush and Nicholas McFarlune also net one goal in the blowout win.

Brent Pledge-Dickson makes 28 saves for his third shutout of the season. The Golden Knights are first in CCHL2 with a total of five team shutouts. Ottawa West went 3-for-8 on the power play and Carleton Place’s power play was 0-for-2. Shots were 31-28 for Ottawa West and extend their winning streak to two games.

Ottawa 10, Char-Lan 3

The Ottawa Jr. Canadians score ten goals for the first time this season. Nicolas Seguin and Chazka Bush each net two goals while Will Fitzsimmons added four assists. Noel de Kemp along with Seguin tallied three points on the night.

Kelly, Licandro, McGregor, Hall and Freshette each had multi-point games by collecting two points. The Ottawa Jr. Canadians have won two of their last three games and are 2-1-1 in the month of January. Alexandre Elie had Char-Lan only goal as they are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The Ottawa Jr. Canadians power play went 1-for-5 while CHar-Lan’s power play was 1-for-3. Conor Corrigan makes 20 saves for his 11th win this season.

Winchester 6, Renfrew 3

The Winchester Hawks officially clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2016-17 season. It will be their third playoff appearance ever since CCHL Tier 2 existed back in 2015-16. Kyle Fleming was on fire offensively by scoring four goals. It’s his first career CCHL2 hat trick and his first career four-goal game.

Noah Fraser added three assists in the third period. Eric Vitale scores his 29th of the season and Colby Schroeder collects 1G / 1A. Kuehl, Langille and Alexander Fleming were the goal scorers for Renfrew. Cole Defazio makes 40 saves for his 9th win this season. Winchester extends their winning streak to four games.
