Week 8 Power-Rankings

Ottawa, Ontario – The CCHL Tier 2 Week 8 Power-Rankings are out. Seven teams move up and down.

  1. Ottawa Canadians (18-1-0) | Last week: 1 | Results: 7-0W vs WPR, 5-2W at CAS, 9-0W at WIN | The hot streak continues for the Canadians. They’ve now won four straight games after going 3-0 last week, playing three games in four days.

 

  1. Casselman Vikings (14-4-0) | Last week: 2 | Results: 5-2L vs OJC, 6-0W at ALX | The Vikings only victory came on a shutout on Friday night against Alexandria. Casselman did not have any luck against Ottawa at home. That season series shifts to Earl Armstrong starting next month.

 

  1. Perth Blue Wings (10-3-2) | Last week: 4 | Results: 4-1W vs ARN | Blue Wings only win came against Arnpior in a close contest. They have the third best winning percentage in the league.

 

  1. Ottawa West Golden Knights (11-5-1) | Last week: 6 | Results: 5-2W vs CHR, 2-1OTW at EMB, 5-3W at WHT | Golden Knights continue to stay hot after their big win against Richmond last week. They beat a talented team in Char-Lan before playing in two close contests against Embrun and Whitewater. Next week will be their toughest week, taking on OJC, Arnprior and Casselman.

 

  1. Arnprior Packers (10-4-2) | Last week: 5 | Results: 4-1L at PER | This game was the only loss this week. They are 0-2 and have lost two consecutive games to start November. They recently won four straight games prior to losing the two.

 

  1. Westport Rideaus (11-6-1) | Last week: 3 | Results: 7-0L at OJC, 9-4L vs REN, 4-3OTW vs BRO | The Rideaus allowed 20 goals against this week which included blowout losses against OJC and Renfrew. Then were able to win in OT against Brockville in the afternoon.

 

  1. Char-Lan Rebels (10-7-2) | Last week: 7 | Results: 5-2L at OW, 1-0W vs BRO, 7-4W at RCH | After their tough loss against Ottawa West, they were able to bounce back against Brockville off a good performance by Grant Craig and then avoided a comeback in Richmond on Sunday afternoon.

 

  1. Carleton Place Jr. Canadians (11-7-1) | Last week: 8 | Results: 2-1OTW vs ATH | They dominated against Athens in the shot category but only scored two goals. All that matters is getting into the winning column.

 

  1. Renfrew Timberwolves (8-8-1) | Last week: 11 | Results: 9-4W at WPR | It was their best offensive performance of the season. This was against a talented team in Westport. They were able to score nine goals.

 

  1. Brockville Tikis (5-6-3) | Last week: 10 | Results: 2-1L vs EMB, 1-0L at CHR, 4-3OTL at WPR | The Tikis can’t find any luck when it comes to one-goal games. They allowed a shorthanded goal in the last minute against Embrun but couldn’t find the back of the net on Saturday, and could not complete the comeback against Westport.

 

  1. Alexandria Glens (8-8-2) | Last week: 9 | Results: 6-0L vs CAS, 3-0L at ATH | They were shutout in two consecutive games for the first since CCHL Tier 2 existed back in 2015-2016. Not only just being shutout, they were once again not staying out of the penalty box.

 

  1. Athens Aeros (5-8-4) | Last week: 12 | Results: 2-1OTL at CPB, 3-0W vs ALX | Aeros are 2-0-2 to start November. They had good goaltending throughout the week from Rukavina. There only loss came against Carleton Place then a shutout against Alexandria coming in their home barn.

 

  1. Winchester Hawks (5-9-2) | Last week: 13 | Results: 9-0L vs OJC, 6-5OTW at WHT | After a blowout loss coming to the hands of Ottawa, the Hawks were able to get a victory against Whitewater from Pare’s five-point performance.

 

  1. Embrun Panthers (5-11-3) | Last week: 15 | Results: 2-1W at BRO, 2-1OTL vs OW | The Panthers really competed very well against Brockville and a young talented team in Ottawa West. They got a shorthanded goal to win over Brockville then got a point against the Golden Knights in an overtime loss.

 

  1. Whitewater Kings (3-8-4) | Last week: 14 | Results: 6-5OTL vs WIN, 5-3L vs OW | Tony Iob made his coaching debuts against Winchester on Saturday and against Ottawa West Sunday afternoon. It didn’t go the way it was planned but they played very well. Recently the Kings traded Chad Moore for Cameron Mulholland and Cameron Iob.

 

  1. Richmond Royals (3-14) | Last Week: 16 | Results: 7-4L vs CHR | There only game came against Char-Lan on Sunday afternoon. They’ve now lost four straight games.
