Ottawa, Ontario – It was a busy Friday in CCHL Tier 2 with five games happening which includes an upset with Alexandria winning over Casselman, Arnprior winning five straight games, Westport avoids a late push from Brockville, Embrun score three unanswered goals against Renfrew and Mack Miller’s four-point effort in OT win for Perth.
Arnprior 7, Whitewater 1
The Arnprior Packers continue to roll as they collected their fifth straight win and have 12 wins on the season. Jordon Ryan (1 G / 2 A) and Cameron Duhn (1 G / 1 A) was really good on defense and were able to contribute offensively. Adam Church was also able to extend his point streak to four games by collecting 1 G / 2 A.
James Buckley also tallied three points and Jared Campitelli with two points during the night. Campitelli has also extend his point streak to five games and has 10 goals and 19 points in 15 games with Arnprior this season.
Liam Doyle collected only one goal in the Whitewater loss. Cameron Scott was terrific in his start by making 35 saves for his 11th win this season.
Alexandria 5, Casselman 2
The Glens were able to snap their seven game losing with a three goal victory over Casselman who continues to struggle, as they also have loss three straight games. The biggest story was Zachary Power collecting his first career hat trick against his former team.
Another player who also played for Casselman to start the year was Etienne Agius-Pease who collected a goal late in the first period. Kyle Joly also had the other marker for Alexandria. Tyler Desjardins also made 26 saves for his first win in an Alexandria Glens uniform and it comes in his first start this season. He is playing with the South Grenville Rangers in the NCJHL.
Evan Huntley and Chris Egener tallied their first goal since joining Casselman in the loss. The Vikings were outshot by the Glens 33-28 in the game.
Embrun 4, Renfrew 2
The Panthers were able to bounce back after a tough loss against Richmond on Sunday afternoon last week. Eric Skyba was the only player to have two points on the night. Martin and Drevniok also tallied one goal. Most importantly, U18 Hawkesbury Hawks player Samuel Beaulne collected his first CCHL2 goal in his second game as an Embrun Panther.
Embrun is 2-2 in the month of December with two more games next week until Christmas Break. Fleming and Klawitter tallied one goal in the Timberwolves second straight loss. Will Nguyen made 30 saves for his 12th win this season.
Westport 3, Brockville 2
The Rideaus were able to snap a three game losing with a one goal victory over Brockville. Sean James tallied his first career game winner in CCHL2. The goal came early in the second period and Westport did have a 3-0 lead at that point. Manderson and Ieradi also netted one goal.
Riley Parker scores his 3rd of the season and U18 Brockville Braves player Tyler Melvin collected his first CCHL2 goal in his 5th game in an Brockville Tikis uniform. Another player who plays for U18 Brockville Braves was Matteo Disipio, who got on the scoresheet with one assist.
Nicholas Ciccarelli was excellent in between the pipes by making 48 saves. The Tikis have loss four straight games and will look to get back into the win column later tonight with a game against Whitewater. Westport will also look for their second straight win when they face Renfrew.
F/OT | Perth 5, Winchester 4
Mack Miller was able to cap off a four-point night by scoring the OT winner and tallying three assists. The Blue Wings dominated the OT frame by outshooting Winchester 8-0. Nathan MacKechnie also contributed with 1 G / 2 A in a three-point night and Jardine netted two goals.
Perth is 3-1 in December with two more games left until the Christmas break. Eric Vitale snapped his four game goalless drought by tallying two goals while Ryan Neilsen was good on the back end by adding three assists as Winchester picks up a point in extra time. Shots were 45-35 for Perth.
