Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa Jr. Canadians defeated the Ottawa West Golden Knights 4-2 on Thursday night at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena.
Devin Saumur scored a power-play goal with seven seconds left in the second period to put OJC up 3-1 going into the intermission. That two-goal deficit was to steep for Ottawa West to climb. Sam Edwards made it a one-goal game early in the third but Thomas Freel scored the empty netter in the final minute to seal the deal.
Freel finished the game with two goals, extending his point-streak to two games and giving him points in nine of his last 10-games. Former Golden Knights Raphael Lecours (1G/1A) and Justin Turner (2A) had multi-point games in the win. Ottawa has won two straight games.
Ottawa West has their four game winning-streak come to an end. Miguel Daoust made 34 saves in the loss. Ottawa West was outshot 37-33.
