Morning Recap | Casselman and Ottawa West pick up key wins

Ottawa, Ontario – Two games were happening on Thursday night in CCHL Tier 2. The Alexandria Glens traveled to Casselman to play the Vikings and Embrun took on Ottawa West in a Martin Division matchup.

Ottawa West 3, Embrun 1

The Panthers had a very good first period but the Golden Knights would score two goals from Bobby Dempster (1 G / 1 A) and Jared Brush, which turned out to be the game winner. It’s Brush’s first game winning goal of his CCHL2 career and got his 3rd goal this season.

Sean Kearns got his 12th of the year to extend his point streak to nine games. J. Haymes also had his point streak to nine games after collecting an assist. The Ottawa West Golden Knights power play was 2-for-5 and have now won eight consecutive games Nathan Brown broke the shutout for Brent Pledge-Dickson in the Embrun loss. Pledge-Dickson made 36 saves for his 7th win this season.

Casselman 8, Alexandria 4

It was a high scoring game between these two teams including a lot of power play goals. Jason Cossette was able to collect his first career hat trick in the second period as he was able to end the night with four-points. Zachary Power also was impressive by tallying 1 G / 2 A and extends his goal and point streak to two games.

Talbot and Fournier also contribute offensively by netting 1 G / 1 A. Alexandria’s goals all came in the third period as Boisvert, Veilleux, Lefebvre and Watson all netted one goal as the Glens losing streak is at two games. Casselman’s power play was 4-for-7 while Alexandria went 3-for-7 on the man advantage. Shots were 37-24 for Casselman.
